Ordering & Customization

How do I place an order?

For standard products, you can order through the website. For custom furniture, send us an enquiry with the rough size, timber or finish preferences, timing and anything the piece needs to work around. If you have room photos, email them to hello@innatefurniture.co.nz — the Shopify form cannot attach images.

We’ll help narrow the practical decisions and provide a quote or next step. Current custom dining table lead time is 6 weeks.

What should I send when enquiring about a custom table?

Send whatever you already know: rough dimensions, how many people you want to seat, any timber or colour you like, and your ideal timing. If you have photos of the room, email them to hello@innatefurniture.co.nz — the Shopify form cannot attach images. If there are practical constraints, such as chairs, bench seats, tight access, flooring or daily family use, include those too.

You do not need a complete specification before getting in touch. We can help narrow the size, shape, base, timber and finish.

What happens after I send an enquiry?

We start by understanding the room, the use and the decisions you’re unsure about. From there we can help narrow the size, shape, timber, finish and base style, then provide a clear next step or quote.

If colour or timber choice is important, we may suggest ordering samples first. If you’re in Christchurch, an appointment can include both the showroom and workshop so you can see the furniture and how it is made.

Can I customise my furniture?

Yes. Most of our work can be adjusted around size, timber, finish, base style and how the piece will be used. Custom does not mean you need to design it from scratch. Often the best starting point is rough dimensions and a sense of how many people need to sit or work at the table. If you have a room photo, email it to hello@innatefurniture.co.nz.

Do you offer different wood types or finishes?

Yes. We can talk through timber and finish options for your room and how the piece will be used. If colour matters, timber samples are the safest way to compare options in your own light, beside your flooring, kitchen, wall colour or existing furniture.

Can I request a custom size?

Yes. Custom sizing is one of the main reasons people come to us. A good table size depends on the room, chair clearance, seating numbers and how the table will be used day to day.

If you’re unsure, send us the rough room dimensions. If you have a photo, email it to hello@innatefurniture.co.nz. We can help work through a practical size before quoting.

Should I choose a round, oval or rectangular table?

It depends on the room, seating and how the table will be used. Rectangular tables usually suit longer rooms and larger seating numbers. Round tables can work well for conversation and smaller spaces. Oval tables can soften a room while still giving useful length.

If you’re unsure, send us the room dimensions. If you have a photo of the space, email it to hello@innatefurniture.co.nz. We can help you compare shape, seating and base options before you commit.

How do I know which finish is best for my space?

We use an Osmo natural hardwax oil finish. It gives the timber a natural feel while keeping the surface practical for everyday use.

Colour and finish can look different depending on light, flooring and surrounding materials, so timber samples are the best way to compare options in your own room. If you’re unsure and have a photo of the space, email it to hello@innatefurniture.co.nz and we’ll help narrow it down.

Can I see wood samples before ordering?

Yes. Timber samples are $10 each including courier and usually ship within 1 working day.

Samples are useful because timber varies naturally from board to board, and screens do not show colour, grain or finish reliably. Compare samples in your own room, beside your flooring, kitchen, wall colour or existing furniture.

Can I provide my own design for a custom piece?

Yes! If you have a concept, sketch, or reference image, we can collaborate to create a custom piece tailored to your vision.

Do you charge extra for custom furniture?

Customisation often involves additional design and labor, so pricing varies depending on complexity. We'll provide a quote once we review your request.

Pricing & Payment

How much does your furniture cost?

Pricing depends on the size, timber, base, finish, complexity and whether the piece is for home or commercial use. Standard products show pricing on the website. For custom work, we quote once we understand what you need.

If you have a budget range, it is helpful to share it early. We can often explain the trade-offs between size, timber, base and finish before you commit.

Do you offer financing or payment plans?

We offer a 50% deposit option. The balance is due before delivery or pickup.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept credit cards, bank transfers, and PayPal.

Do prices include GST?

Yes, all prices on our website include GST.

Can I get a trade or bulk discount?

Yes. Trade and bulk pricing is available for suitable projects, including interior designers, builders, hospitality, office and boardroom work. Contact us with the project details and quantities so we can advise properly.

Do you make tables for hospitality, boardrooms or commercial spaces?

Yes. We make tables and timber furniture for homes, hospitality, offices and boardrooms. Commercial pieces need to be considered around use, size, base stability, cleaning, finish and long-term durability.

For trade or bulk projects, pricing is available on request.

Shipping & Delivery

Where do you ship to?

We deliver New Zealand-wide. Shipping depends on the size of the piece and the delivery location. For custom or large items, we can confirm the delivery approach as part of the quote.

What are your shipping costs?

Shipping costs depend on item size, destination and access. For smaller website orders this may be shown at checkout. For larger or custom pieces, we confirm the freight approach and cost as part of the quote or before the order is completed.

How long does shipping take?

Custom dining table lead time is currently 6 weeks. Delivery timing depends on your location and the size of the piece. We’ll confirm the delivery plan before your order is completed.

Can I pick up my order instead of having it shipped?

Yes. Pickup can be arranged from our Christchurch workshop/showroom address. For larger pieces, we’ll confirm the safest pickup or delivery option before collection.

Do you ship outside New Zealand?

Our standard delivery is New Zealand-wide. If you are outside New Zealand, contact us before ordering so we can advise whether there is a practical option for the specific piece.

How do you handle shipping large items?

Large items are shipped via freight and delivered to your door.

Will my furniture arrive fully assembled?

Some of our furniture arrives fully assembled, but larger pieces may require minimal assembly. We can arrange assembly on your behalf on request.

Production & Lead Times

How long does it take to make my furniture?

Custom dining table lead time is currently 6 weeks. If timing is important, let us know when you enquire so we can confirm what is realistic before you commit.

Can I request fast-track production?

Sometimes. If you need a table sooner, tell us your ideal date when you enquire. We’ll let you know what is possible based on the current workshop schedule, timber, size and delivery requirements.

How will I be updated on my order’s progress?

We’ll confirm the important steps with you: quote, deposit, production timing, and delivery or pickup. If you have a particular deadline or need more regular updates, let us know when you order.

Care & Maintenance

How do I care for my wooden furniture?

For everyday care, wipe with a damp cloth and avoid harsh chemicals. Our tables are finished with Osmo natural hardwax oil finish, which keeps the timber feeling natural and can be maintained over time.

Use coasters or placemats for heat, strong colour and heavy use. If the surface gets marked over the years, ask us about maintenance or repair rather than assuming the table is ruined.

Will my furniture develop cracks or movement over time?

Timber is a natural material, so small seasonal movement can happen as humidity changes. Good timber selection, construction and finish help manage that movement, but real timber will never behave like plastic or laminate.

If you notice anything you’re unsure about, contact us. We would rather help early than leave you guessing.

Will the wood change colour over time?

Yes. Timber changes colour over time as it is exposed to light and daily use. That natural ageing is part of why people choose real timber. Samples help with the starting point, but every board will still have its own variation.
