Where it works

Wooden kitchen benchtops, islands, laundries and working surfaces, made to size.

Timber is warm, practical and repairable when it is designed around the room. Use the builder for a first quote on the common shapes below, then send through drawings or photos if the space needs more thought.

Kitchen benchtops

Long runs, appliance zones and everyday preparation surfaces with real timber warmth.

Island tops

Feature pieces where size, overhang and timber character matter.

Laundry tops

Practical custom surfaces with sensible care around water and appliances.

Timber tops where sealing, splash zones and maintenance details need checking.

After the quote

Before we make it, we check the details with you.

Timber is warm, repairable and honest. It is not stone, and it needs sensible care around heat, water and spills. That is also why we review every quote before cutting: good timber should suit the room, not just fit the numbers.

01Joins and grain

Panel layout, grain direction and joins that make sense in the room.

02Support and overhangs

Whether the timber has the support it needs for daily use.

03Finish and care

Sample choice, oil finish and realistic expectations around timber care.

04Delivery details

Nationwide freight, access and timing checked before order confirmation.

Benchtops are newer for us than dining tables, but the same workshop, timber knowledge and follow-through sit behind every quote. These reviews show the standard customers already expect from Innate.

Common benchtop questions

How do I measure for a timber benchtop?

Start with overall length, depth and thickness. Then note overhangs, joins, end panels, sink or tap cut-outs and whether the top needs to work around walls or appliances. Rough dimensions are fine for a first quote; final dimensions need checking before cutting.

How do I choose the timber colour?

Use the colour grid to compare Clear, Country Bark and Blackwash across Rimu, Tōtara and Beech. For a real-world decision, order timber samples and view them beside your flooring, cabinetry and wall colour.

Can I add sink and tap cut-outs?

Yes. The configurator covers common sink and tap cut-outs. If the shape, join, overhang or cut-out is unusual, use the quote as a starting point and send through your plan or sketch.

Is the configurator quote final?

No. It is an indicative quote to give you a serious starting point before we talk. We still confirm timber availability, final dimensions, joins, support, cut-outs, finish, delivery and any site details before anything is made.

Can you check my dimensions?

Yes. Send the quote through with rough dimensions, photos, sketches or plans. We will come back with the practical questions and confirm the final dimensions before cutting.

What happens after I send the quote?

It comes to our workshop team for review. We check the timber choice, size, finish, joins, cut-outs and delivery details, then reply with next steps. No payment is taken from the quote builder.

How are the benchtops finished?

Our standard finish is a hardwax oil that keeps the timber feeling natural and can be refreshed over time. It still needs sensible care: wipe spills, avoid standing water, use boards and trivets, and clean with suitable products.

Can I get a sample?

Yes. Sample sets ship nationwide so you can see the timber in your space before committing. Order them here.

How long does it take?

Lead time is confirmed in your quote - typically 4 to 8 weeks from order to delivery, depending on timber stock and your sizing. We'll tell you exactly when we come back to you.

Can I order an unusual shape?

Most shapes work, including L-shapes, peninsulas, irregular angles and live-edge profiles. Use the configurator for the basic outline, and reply to your quote with anything bespoke. We'll work it out together.

Ready when you are

Ready to send a benchtop brief?
