How much does tongue and groove flooring cost?
Our solid beech tongue and groove flooring costs $139 per m² for 85 mm boards and $159 per m² for 105 mm boards, including GST. Per lineal metre, that is about $11.82 for 85 mm and about $16.70 for 105 mm.
On top of the boards, allow for freight, laying, sanding and your finish. Here is how to work out the whole picture.
Our flooring prices

| Heritage · 85 x 19 mm | $139 | about $11.82 | 17 m² | $2,363 |
| Heritage · 105 x 19 mm | $159 | about $16.70 | 21 m² | $3,339 |

Three worked examples
The minimum order: 17 m² of 85 mm boards × $139 = $2,363 of flooring, incl GST. At 105 mm, 21 m² × $159 = $3,339.
A 30 m² room: add a 10% laying allowance for cuts and board selection, which makes 33 m². 33 × $139 = $4,587 of flooring, incl GST, plus freight.
A measured 45 m² floor: a 10% laying allowance makes 49.5 m², which the calculator rounds up to 50 m². That is $6,950 incl GST at 85 mm, or $7,950 for Heritage 105 mm, plus freight and your installer's laying, sanding and finishing.
To work out your own, measure each room, multiply length by width in metres and add them up. Then add your laying allowance. 10% is a starting point; ask your installer to confirm it for your layout, and allow more for lots of small rooms or angles. Our stock estimates already allow for profiling and selection before supply, so the laying allowance is only for your site.
What else to budget for
- Freight: pick-up is by arrangement, or we deliver anywhere in New Zealand by Mainfreight, in bundles under 35 kg that two people can carry. Use the order request on our flooring page to get a freight estimate for your address.
- Skirting and architrave: matching beech skirting (85 x 19 mm) and architrave (60 x 19 mm), single bevel, at $11.82 per lineal metre incl GST, minimum 20 LM each, added to your order request.
- End matching: optional, priced with your quote.
- Laying: your installer quotes this.
- Sanding: our boards are supplied uncoated, so the floor is sanded after it is laid. Your installer can include this in their quote.
- Finish: the oil or coating, and the labour to apply it. We like Osmo and Natural House Company oils.
Labour rates vary a lot with the job and the region, so we don't publish a guess. Ask your installer for a quote that covers laying, sanding and finishing.
Paying and lead time
Nothing is charged online: send an order request and we reply with your confirmed total, same day where we can. Quotes are valid for 14 days. A deposit of 50% of the full total, including freight, confirms your order when it arrives by bank transfer on our invoice, and the balance is due before dispatch or pick-up.
Our flooring is profiled to order from our kiln-dried, rough sawn West Coast beech. Lead time is usually 6-8 weeks from your confirmed order or deposit until your flooring is ready to dispatch or collect. Freight time is extra, usually 1-5 working days.
