Measure each room, multiply length by width in metres, and add them up.

The stock estimate already allows for profiling and selection before supply. The laying allowance is extra for cuts and your installer's board selection on site. 10% is a starting point; ask your installer to confirm it for your layout. The calculator adds it once and rounds up to a whole m².

Matching skirting and architrave

Optional, in the same timber. $11.82 per LM incl GST, minimum 20 LM each (less is charged as 20 LM).

Single bevel, 19 mm thick to match your floor. Supplied uncoated in random lengths.

Trims ship with your flooring at no extra freight.

Delivery or pick-up

Tell us about steps, steep or narrow access and limited truck space. Mainfreight delivers two-person bundles under 35 kg, carried in by hand.

Heritage 85 is beech with pinhole character, darker markings and more variation between boards, so no two boards look the same. The narrower 85 mm board puts more boards across the room, which keeps the character busy and textured. It has the warm, varied look many older native floors have.

These are solid timber floorboards, tongue and groove, 85 x 19 mm and supplied uncoated, ready for your installer to lay, sand and finish. Heritage can contain small pinholes, pin streaks, darker brown markings and more colour variation between boards. Compare Natural and Heritage grades.

Our beech is a combination of red and silver beech, two New Zealand beech species with a very similar look. If you'd like a particular species, get in touch and we'll confirm what stock is available.

Are the pinholes a problem?

The pinholes are a natural feature of beech. They were made in the standing tree by a native beetle that needs wet, living wood, long before milling. Once the timber is kiln dried the holes are inert: nothing lives in them, and they can't spread to other timber in your home. Beech is also naturally resistant to common house borer (NZ Farm Forestry Association). The pinholes are cosmetic and don't change how the boards lay, sand, finish or wear.

The pinholes come as they are, part of the Heritage character. Your oil or coating seals them as it finishes the floor. If you'd prefer them filled, your installer can do it while sanding.

Installation and finishing

Install, then sand, then coat. We supply the boards. An installer experienced with solid timber flooring checks the site, lays the floor using standard solid timber flooring practices, then sands it and applies your chosen finish. We like Osmo and Natural House Company oils; the choice of finish is yours to make with your installer. Installation, finishing and care.

Our grade standard

The grade guide lists what each grade can contain. These lists are our grade standard. If boards arrive clearly outside them, tell us before laying and we'll replace them.

Supplied as solid timber to the grade described. Your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act apply. Laying, sanding and finishing are your installer's workmanship.

The laid floor image is an illustration of the grade with a clear oil finish. Boards are supplied uncoated, as in the photo of the stacked boards. Every floor is unique.

Delivery

How your flooring arrives

  • Mainfreight delivery in two-person bundles under 35 kg (about 2.7 m² each), following WorkSafe team-lift guidance.
  • Boards are 0.8 to 5.4 m long and weigh about 12 kg per m². A 20 m² order is about 8 bundles.
  • Bundles are carried in by hand. Tell us about access so we can confirm delivery with your quote.
  • Keep your flooring flat, dry and covered until your installer is ready.

Check your delivery as soon as practical. If anything is damaged, email hello@innatefurniture.co.nz with your order details and photos of the boards and packaging.

Before cutting or laying, check quantity, width, profile and grade against your order. Set aside any boards you're unsure about and send us photos before using them.
